The Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment (MBIE) is developing three new pathways in which overseas building products can be recognised in Aotearoa New Zealand following the passing of The Building (Overseas Building Products, Standards, and Certification Schemes) Amendment Act 2025.
The Building Performance team is hosting a webinar on Monday 9 June to discuss what these pathways will look like and to answer your questions, as per the previous BIF Advisory Communication. However, due to an overwhelming amount of interest, the MBIE software has reached its registration limit. Therefore, MBIE's Building Performance Team will be running a second webinar, on Tuesday 10 June at 11am.
Both webinars will be hosted by Clare Botha, Principal Advisor Building System Delivery and Assurance, who will be joined by:
- Katie Symons, Principal Advisor Engineering, who will discuss the new Building Product Specifications and how you can give your feedback on what product standards and specifications are proposed to be in this pathway.
- Amanda Macauley, Principal Advisor System Performance and Implementation, and Lisa Clephane, Technical Lead Building Regulatory Services, who will discuss the recognition of products certified overseas and Minister Endorsed Standards.
