BIF Advisory Communication - Product Labelling Review August 2025

This morning, the Ministry for Regulation announced it will be conducting a review into product labelling. While the terms of reference are yet to be set, the review will explore New Zealand’s alignment with international product labelling standards and examine regulatory barriers to interoperability with international markets. This includes looking at domestic labelling regulations, import/export considerations, and innovative labelling approaches. The Ministry plans to consult with industry groups and/or businesses who may have an interest in the regulatory review of product labelling. Below is the link to a questionnaire designed for said industry groups and/or businesses. The information provided through this questionnaire will form the basis of the reviews focus areas and the Terms of Reference.
