Building Leaders Forum series: Karin Cunningham

BIF NZ has just released the third episode of the Building Leaders Forum series. 

In this episode, Julien Leys chats with Karin Cunningham, Head of Commercial at Plumbing World, General Manager at Metrix Imports Ltd., and Board Chair of the Building Industry Federation New Zealand. She is also part of the NZPM Co-operative (New Zealand Plumbing Merchants). 
 
Karin shares what got her into the industry, her journey so far, and why she loves it so much, as well as insights into emerging technology, business leadership, and sustainability.

Worksafe Board Event 2025

Worksafe has just held their June 2025 Board Event with a focus on construction. Their pre-reading pack from the event contains some interesting data out of the construction industry - view it as a PDF here
Annual number of home consents down in the year ended May 2025

According to figures released by Stats NZ, there were 33,530 new homes consented in Aotearoa New Zealand in the year ended May 2025, down 3.8 percent compared with the year ended May 2024. 

However, the seasonally adjusted number of new dwellings consented rose 10 percent. Read more about new buildings consented here, or the annual number of home consents here.
