Welcome to our June newsletter.
If you haven't already, please take a moment to fill out our BIF NZ Survey on the Impact of the Middle East Conflict on the NZ Building Supply Chain. It will take around 10 minutes to complete and upon you completion, you can go into the draw to win a Prezzy Card. The feedback we gather from this survey will be collated and presented to advocate as much as we can for the building industry in this fuel crisis. I cannot understate that what you tell us in this survey will directly impact the information that we are using to advise policymakers, politicians, and the like. Please share this survey amongst your teams and industry peers, too.
Winter is here and we are hearing more about how we ought to be expecting an El Niño over the coming months. This is a dry and windy weather system, which comes as a bit of a double-edged sword for our industry. On the one hand, it can reduce rain delays and therefore support site productivity, but colder temperatures, wind, and frost still slow work, impact curing times, and add health and safety risks. Ensure you and your team are taking the time to plan ahead and keep an eye on conditions as the weather changes. You may like to revisit our Building Leaders Forum series episode with Chris Alderson of Construction Health & Safety NZ (CHASNZ) for some extra tips on keeping on top of these. We also have our next episode of the Building Leaders Forum with Sara Johnson of ITM coming out soon, so do keep an eye out for that, too.
Finally, we're excited to be planning our AGM, which will be held in Auckland on the evening of Wednesday the 12th of August. This year marks 25 years of BIF NZ, so it will be an extra special night, and we at BIF NZ are already looking forward to it. Mark your calendars!
